Match Preview

Roma will be eyeing up the top of the Serie A table when they meet with Udinese away from home this Sunday as Jose Mourinho’s men have so established themselves as potential title contenders this campaign.

Following on from finishing sixth and winning the inaugural Europa Conference League last campaign, Mourinho looks set for his best title charge in eight seasons across Europe. The additions of star names like Nemanja Matic will help bolster his improving squad, while Paulo Dybala is adding even more fuel to the fire that is burning in Rome.

Mourinho’s men eased past Monza last weekend when they defeated the newly-promoted club 3-0. This clash also witnessed Dybala get his first goals for the club, with two fantastic efforts in the first half being matched by a goal from Roger Ibanez in the second 45.

Just before this, however, Roma met with Juventus at the Juventus Stadium in what was perhaps the biggest game of Roma’s entire 2022 in Italy so far. A stunning free kick from Dusan Vlahovic gave Juventus an early lead, but an equaliser from striker Tammy Abraham earned a 1-1 draw for Roma away from home.

Roma did also manage to beat Cremonese 1-0 two weeks back, as Chris Smalling kept a clean sheet and scored the game’s only goal. Bryan Cristante was also the difference just before this, as his side managed to beat Salernitana 1-0 away from home on the opening weekend.

Udinese beat Fiorentina 1-0 in midweek, as Beto scored a goal in a fixture largely dominated by the away side. This comes off the back of a 0-0 draw with Salernitana too, as Neuhuen Perez was sent off in the first half and now remains out of this match and can return in the next game.
