Sunday AFCON qualifiers: Lesotho vs Zambia & São Tomé and Príncipe vs Sierra Leone.

Lesotho vs Zambia

[TIP_OF_THE_DAY]

For the second time in just four days, Zambia and Lesotho go head-to-head.

On Thursday, it was Lesotho who took a shock lead in Ndola, with Tshwarelo Bereng on target.

Nevertheless, Zambia fought back to win 3-1, with Fashion Sakala equalising before Lameck Banda bagged a brace.

This saw the Copper Bullets move top of this group, and another win here would all guarantee qualification for a first AFCON since 2015.

Lesotho meanwhile have never featured at a major tournament and, with just one point on the board, the Crocodiles need a win here if they’re to have any change of changing that.

São Tomé and Príncipe vs Sierra Leone

[TIP_OF_THE_DAY]

After a throughly entertaining 2-2 draw on Wednesday, these two nations go head-to-head, again in Agadir, Morocco.

Luís Leal twice had São Tomé and Príncipe in the lead in that game, but Mustapha Bundu and Abu Komeh equalised both times, ensuring the points were shared.

Sierra Leone came into this double-header as favourites to claim maximum points, after featuring at a first AFCON since 1996 last year.

The Leone Stars now have just two points on the board and, with their remaining fixtures against Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau, cannot afford to drop points here.

São Tomé and Príncipe meanwhile are the minnows of Group A, highlighted by the fact they were smashed 10-0 by Nigeria last June.

Adriano Eusébio’s country have only ever won six of 35 AFCON qualifiers, including ousting Mauritius in the preliminary round just to get this far.

Despite only managing a draw four days ago, Sierra Leone will be confident of victory this time at Adrar Stadium.
