Despite being left on the bench against Switzerland, Cristiano Ronaldo still managed to dominate the headlines.
The forward was dropped to the bench for a disagreement with Fernando Santos following a heated discussion.
Portuguese outlet Record then claimed that Ronaldo threatened to leave the World Cup.
However, the 37-year-old has taken to Instagram to respond to the report.
Ronaldo: “A team in the true sense of the word”
Whilst Ronaldo celebrated the goals with his teammates against Swizterland, he was seen leaving the Portuguese celebrations early and heading straight down the tunnel.
However, he has denied that he threatened to leave the Portuguese camp following a heated talk with the coach.
Ronaldo’s post on Instagram reads: “A group too united to be broken by external forces. A nation too brave to be intimidated by any adversary.
“A team in the true sense of the word, that will fight for the dream until the end!
“Take a leap of faith with us! Come on, Portugal!”
Portugal take on Morroco in the quarter-finals on Saturday afternoon with the winner set to face either England or France.
