The World Cup witnessed one of its greatest-ever upsets this morning as Saudi Arabia stunned one of the tournament’s favorites Argentina.
The team ranked 51st in the world managed to defeat Argentina who are ranked 3rd in the FIFA world rankings.

Lionel Scaloni’s side had been on a staggering 36-game unbeaten run which extended over three years.
But Saleh Alshehri and Salem Aldawsari’s second-half goals stunned the world and Messi & co.
Following the first-half, Argentina lead 1-0 but looked pretty uncomfortable at times with Saudi playing a very high line.
In the second half, the story changed as Hervé Renard’s side managed to come from behind and expose La Albiceleste’s defensive weaknesses.
The defender’s season has been plagued by injuries and today his display was heavily scrutinised by many on social media.
He was eventually withdrawn after 59 minutes and replaced by Lisandro Martinez.
In the first-half, he gave away the ball on several occasions and looked very shaky.
The 24-year-old then managed to get beaten all ends up by Alshehri who netted the equaliser.
Scaloni now faces the tricky decision of whether or not to bench the defender in Argentina’s next game against Mexico on Saturday.
The Green Falcons have turned it around!! 👀

Fans react to Romero vs Saudi Arabia
Think u can tell Romero was playing a bit injured prefer he doesn’t play their next game would be a help

Lisandro Martinez in current form should be starting for Argentina. He’s a better CB than Romero, while Otamendi is 34. Should definitely own that LCB spot.

Argentina have looked well balanced and Otamendi and Romero have a good record together but their best centre-back is on the bench. Difficult to imagine Martinez being as indecisive as Romero and Otamendi there. #ARGKSA

This is the first time in 11 games Argentina have conceded a goal with Cristian Romero on the pitch:
