It’s the second World Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening as France aim to make it to consecutive World Cup finals and put themselves in a rare bracket of greatness by beating the tournament’s giant killers, Morocco.

The Atlas Lions have stunned viewers at this World Cup with their magnificent run to the semi-finals. They have managed to knock Belgium out already from the group stages and now gone on to beat both Spain and Portugal, who some tipped to win the competition at points during this World Cup in Qatar.

Morocco beat Spain on penalties after seeing less than 35% of the ball, and in seeing just 28% of the ball against Portugal in the quarter-finals, Youssef En-Nesyri scored a thumping header in the first half to see them through.

As for France, they beat England in the quarter-finals after Olivier Giroud added to his record-breaking amount of goals for Les Bleus. Aurelim Tchouameni also scored from distance in the first half, and although the Three Lions were the better team for much of the game, France are now the favourites to win a second World Cup in a row.

They would become only the second nation to do so after Brazil’s double in the late 1950s and early 60s, and they would also become the sixth nation after the Netherlands, Argentina, Germany, Brazil and Italy to reach consecutive finals at a World Cup.
