Poland will be appearing at their 8th World Cup when they take to the field in November, but will be looking to make it out of the group stage for the first time this millennium after three consecutive first-round knockouts.
The Eastern European side reached the World Cup through the playoffs, finishing runners up to England in a group that also contained Hungary, Albania and San Marino.
They edged out Sweden in the play-off final, and have enjoyed mixed form since, beating Wales and drawing with the Netherlands, though they did also lose twice to Belgium including a 6-1 humiliation, to sit third in their Nations League group.
Drawn in a group with Saudi Arabia, Mexico and heavyweights Argentina, they will know that they will need to bring their A-game to make it through to the knockout stages of the competition.

World Cup betting tips
Despite having one of the best strikers in Europe, Poland are unlikely to go deep into the tournament despite having enjoyed one of their strongest generations of players for some time. However with Robert Lewandowski in their ranks, they are capable of causing any team problems and could cause an upset or two.

Manager
Czeslaw Michniewicz
Michniewicz was drafted in to manage the Polish national team in January 2022 after the decision of Paulo Sousa to depart for Flamengo. The team responded well however, securing qualification through the play-offs to leave the former goalkeeper hopeful of a contract extension beyond the end of his current deal which ends in December. Despite qualification, he had just a 37% win rate before the tournament.

Key players
Robert Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski has the hopes of a nation on him, and the veteran striker remains one of the most deadly marksmen on the planet.
The 34-year-old has managed 76 goals in 132 appearances for the National team, 30 more than any other in Poland’s history, and often only needs one chance to make a difference. His quality could take them deep into the competition.
Piotr Zieliński
The main man in Poland’s midfield, Zielinski’s energy from the no.10 will be crucial to supplying Lewandowski, while the Napoli man is not shy of a goal himself.
Jan Bednarek
Bednarek shoulders much of the defensive responsibility in his country’s backline and is expected to once more this tournament. The Aston Villa centre-back will need to find form before the tournament, however.
101′s Poland World Cup Tip
101 Great Goals thinks Poland could certainly threaten an upset or two, but they are unlikely to progress deep into the tournament. Despite that, we think they have a decent chance of making it through their groups and into the last 16.
