It’s an all-Greater Manchester affair in League Two this weekend as Stockport County head to the Crown Oil Arena just over six miles away from their own patch as the two clubs reignite a rivalry for the first time in over 10 years in the EFL.
Neither side will be pleased with their form in the season so far, but for all the expectation on the shoulders of County when they returned to the Football League, they do still sit inside the top half of the table and comfortably away from the drop zone.
Stockport are 12th right now in League Two on 28 point and ahead of Doncaster Rovers in 13th by an almighty +11 in the goals difference margin. The Hatters have won eight games so far and they now sit 13 points above Rochdale in the relegation spots.
Rochdale are in the fourth and final relegation spot right now on 15 points. The club were hammered 4-1 by Harrogate Town in the last game, forcing them to create a gap of four points on Harrogate Town in 20th and there is an awful lot riding on this game for the club and manager Jim Bentley.
Stockport’s form on the road has been near enough the same as their record at Edgeley Park this season. On the other hand, Rochdale have lost their past few games on home soil, as Harrogate beat them last time out, while Mansfield Town did the same just three weeks ago.
