Footage of Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad poking collective fun at France star Kylian Mbappe has come to the fore late on Sunday.
Argentina, of course, are fresh off etching their names indellibly into the history books of world football a short time ago.
After navigating their way to the tournament showpiece courtesy of five wins on the trot, the Albiceleste were tasked with a meeting with reigning champions France, amid the country’s ongoing bid to secure a first World Cup trophy since all the way back in 1986.
And, when all was said and done, get the better of France is precisely what the South American heavyweights went on to do.
After the two sides shared six goals across a pulsating 120 minutes of action, the clash was sent to a penalty shootout, from which Argentina held their nerve, converting on four straight occasions to spark chaotic celebrations across the Lusail Stadium.

On the back of a breathless night in Qatar coming to a close, it should, in turn, come as little surprise to hear of Lionel Scaloni’s troops letting loose in the dressing room post-match.
As showcased in the footage below, whilst dancing and singing alongside his teammates, Emiliano Martinez made use of the opportunity to aim a dig at hitman Mbappe, who notched a hat-trick en route to defeat on Sunday.
The moment in question came upon Aston Villa’s no.1 bringing a momentary halt to proceedings, before a cry of ‘a moment of silence for Mbappe’ (in Spanish) kicked the gleeful scene back into gear:
“A minute of silence for … Mbappe!” 😅
