The Champions League action will continue this Wednesday night with Club Brugge welcoming Benfica to Belgium after a sensational group stage campaign as Benfica look to continue to dominate across all competitions.
Benfica are heading into this one top of the Primeira Liga, although they are now out of the Taca de Portugal after a penalty shootout loss to Braga. Nevertheless, they have still lost just once this season in all competitions in 90 minutes and won 17 of the 20 games so far in the league.
In the Champions League, Benfica managed to finish above Paris Saint-Germain in Group H, despite having both won four games, drawn twice, scored 16 and let in seven.
As for Brugge, their group stage efforts were far from expected. Brugge started the Champions League off in perfect form with a 1-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen and a stunning 4-0 win over another Portuguese side away from home, Porto.
The Belgian side then eased past Atletico Madrid 2-0, before then drawing with the La Liga side and getting on the opposite end of a 4-0 hammering from Porto. A 0-0 draw with Leverkusen meant they failed to win any of the past three group games.
