A Queens Park Rangers outfit brimming with confidence on the back of the most timely return to form are set to act as hosts later today, in a Championship final day meeting with Bristol City.
As all associated with the club will be all too aware, QPR, until very recently, had looked amongst the leading contenders for the drop to League One, owing to nothing short of an embarrassing run of form.
Under the watch of Gareth Ainsworth, though, the Hoops are deserving of huge credit, for turning things around when it mattered most.
All told, the last couple of weeks have seen QPR rack up seven points from an available nine, a stretch including back-to-back victories over champions Burnley and, most recently, Stoke City.
Such efforts have culminated in the capital outfit climbing to 19th in the table, a full six points clear of the bottom three, and no doubt keen to close out the campaign with a third win on the spin.
Upcoming opponents Bristol City, on the other hand, have found positive results a touch more difficult to come by of late.
Such woes have seen Nigel Pearson’s men slide to 15th, albeit in the knowledge that they are guaranteed to finish, at the least, three points clear of their hosts-in-waiting.
Based on form, however, it is QPR who should, for obvious reasons, be viewed as favourites to emerge on the right side of the result come the full-time whistle at Loftus Road on Monday.
But, taking into account just how little is at stake, and the bookmakers’ odds, we at 101 are favouring an eventual sharing of the spoils between QPR and Bristol City.
