German giants Bayern Munich may be forced to consider alternative long-term solutions in goal at the Allianz Arena after former FC Schalke 04 and FC Paderborn shot-stopper Alexander Nübel has refused a return to Bavaria due to staff issues at Säbener Straße.
Nübel, 26, arrived at Bayern two years ago after rising through the ranks in Gelsenkirchen amid the promise of a bright future as one to watch at both club and international level but failed to make a big enough impression with the Rekordmeister before securing a long-term loan with principality side AS Monaco in 2021.
The Paderborn native is now refusing to return from his spell away in the summer if goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalović is still on staff, which has now prompted Bayern to switch gears and cast their gaze on domestic rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach stat Yann Sommer according to Sky Germany and relayed by Get German Football News.

Sommer, who is out of contract at Borussia Park in the summer, remains one of the top goalkeepers in the Bundesliga and the club views him as a potential immediate solution to replace the injured Manuel Neuer who suffered a serious fracture while skiing after Germany crashed out of the 2022 World Cup.
Though an in-house replacement in Nübel would certainly be more prudent, but a cheap move for Sommer during the January transfer window would at least guarantee Gladbach earn some measure of financial restitution for services rendered rather than losing one of their prized asset on a free transfer in six months time.
Sommer is said to be open to the idea of moving house given he would remain in Germany rather than having to settle in an environment far more alien to him, though how Gladbach would replace him during the middle of the 2022-23 campaign remains to be seen.
