Perennial Bundesliga champions-elect Bayern Munich have already begun their campaign to reinforce the senior squad under tactician Julian Nagelsmann for the 2023-24 campaign after the Bavarians secured a free summer move for versatile Austrian international midfielder Konrad Laimer according to Kicker’s Georg Holzner.

Laimer, 25, has been a standout performer in Saxony at Nagelsmann’s former charge RB Leipzig since his arrival in the Bundesliga back in the summer of 2017 while being integral across five seasons, helping the club to four top-four finishes as well as last season’s DFB-Pokal win; their first major piece of silverware.
The Salzburg native and former RB Salzburg academy graduate has gone on to make 168 appearances for RBL and will add needed versatility and quality across multiple roles on the pitch under a manager that knows the player well.
His arrival at the Allianz Arena is now also set to allow former RBL teammate and international colleague Marcel Sabitzer to find a future away from Bavarian in the same summer according to Holzner, with the 28-year-old attacking midfielder struggling to truly settle at Bayern since his own arrival at the club just last season.
Certainly, a return to Red Bull Arena could be on the cards for Sabitzer, not only due in part to the departure of Laimer but also the impending summer move that will see star man Christopher Nkunku swap Saxony for London and a move to Chelsea.
