Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp have been made to go back to the drawing board after the Reds traveled to the south coast to clash with Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton at the American Express Community Stadium, only to return north to Merseyside empty-handed as the Italian tactician earned another credible result since arriving in England.

A brace from Solly March and a third from former Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck sealed all three points for the Seagulls, who have now climbed up to seventh in the table while leapfrogging the Reds in the process.

De Zerbi’s men continue to play a brand of football not typically associated with Brighton, even under Potter, but results do not lie and the south coast club has quickly been molded into one of the better sides in the English top flight, ruthlessly exposing Liverpool on a day where Klopp’s tenure at Anfield is increasingly finding itself under scrutiny.

Liverpool’s need for midfield reinforcements as soon as possible bubbled to the surface once more as Klopp’s men struggled to really find their footing on their travels, and though the Reds were on a recent four-match winning run, back to back losses now see’s them drop out of the top seven, which many wondering if qualifying for next seasons Champions League is even possible.
