Premier League giants Chelsea continue to endure a 2022-23 campaign on the home front that has been met with one disappointment after another in the wake of their heavy 4-0 defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup third round, which now sees the Blues with just league and continental fixtures remaining on their calendar.

While Graham Potter continues to bear the brunt of the blame regarding the club’s current situation on the footballing landscape as Chelsea sits tenth in the league after having garnered just one win in their last six fixtures, temporary sporting director and Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly continues to leave the gates open at Stamford Bridge as the capital side pushes for more names in the door during the January transfer window.

The Blues confirmed the loan capture of Portuguese and Atlético Madrid star João Félix earlier today, adding the 23-year-old to an already bloated forward line in west London, but the club is showing no signs of stopping at that juncture with links emerging with interest in PSV Eindhoven youngster Noni Madueke.

According to Times Sports Tom Roddy, the 20-year-old Barnet native and England U21 international has piqued Chelsea’s interest in a possible move during the current winter window.

A former academy player with Crystal Palace and Tottenham before arriving in Eindhoven in 2018, Madueke had a fantastic first-full season during the 2020-21 Eredivisie campaign but has since dealt with a string of fitness issues across the last two seasons, with the player only featuring on six occasions across all competitions in 2022-23.

Despite possible fitness concerns, Madueke does fit the profile of a player that Chelsea has begun to target in depth across all positions of late given his age, and should a deal be struck, he would join Ivorian starlet David Datro Fofana as another young name to arrive at the Bridge this window.
