Newcastle United’s recent ascendency in the Premier League has been a breath of fresh air on Tyneside as the Magpies and their Geordie faithful continue to dream of European nights returning to St. James’ Park, with Eddie Howe leading the club to heights not seen in over a decade in the northeast of England as Miguel Almirón and company prepare for an away day in the capital against Crystal Palace while sitting fourth in the table.

Boasting a fourteen-match unbeaten run in the league dating back to the first weekend in September after a 2-1 loss against Liverpool, only league leaders Arsenal can boast just one loss on their record at current across what has been a phenomenal campaign perpetrated by the newly-financially backed outfit after PIF took the reigns in 2021-22.

With five points separating Newcastle from fifth-placed Tottenham while also owning a match in hand over Antonio Conte’s men, the chance to take a comfortable eight-point lead over Spurs to further cement their current holding in the league is an opportunity that the Magpies cannot miss out on despite Palace so often proving to be a tricky customer, especially at Selhurst Park.

Predicted Newcastle United XI

Newcastle United Team News

  • Out: Emil Krafth, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Targett
  • Doubt: Bruno Guimarães

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe will come into the weekend away day against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park grateful for minimal selection issues when the Magpies head for London, but the absence of star midfielder Bruno Guimarães could prove decisive.

Though the Brazilian international is listed as a doubt for selection, even if he was to make the bench, it is unlikely that Howe will turn to the key central figure at any juncture unless the direst of circumstances befalls Newcastle on their travels. Other absentees Emil Krafth, Jonjo Shelvey, and Matt Targett were not in contention to start here, so their inability to be included in the matchday squad does not come with any dramatic consequences.
