Antonio Conte’s Tottenham put their midweek Champions League disappointment in their rearview mirror earlier today and got back to winning ways thanks to a 3-1 win in the capital against visiting Nottingham Forest.

A brace from none other than Harry Kane was enough to seal all three points on the day in north London before South Korean star Son Heung-min tripled Spurs’ advantage in the 62nd minute, and though Forest would find a consolation goal through center-back Joe Worrall, the result now see’s Conte’s men gain a six-point lead over Liverpool in the wake of the Reds’ shock loss away at Bournemouth during the lunchtime kickoff.

The disappointment of the European campaign certainly left a sour taste in the mouth of many after Spurs were unable to reverse their 1-0 first-leg loss against AC Milan at the San Siro while only being able to muster a 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but thankfully for Spurs, they currently sit in pole position to return to Europe’s premier club competition via league qualification if they can put together a run of form on the domestic front.

As for Forest, the loss made it five consecutive league fixtures without a win for Steve Cooper’s men, who despite currently sitting in fourteenth, are just three points clear of the bottom three, with Newcastle United to come next weekend.

Tottenham can look forward to upcoming clashes with Southampton (A) and Everton (H) to offer a continued springboard for point hauls as the race for Europe, with a chance to possibly climb ahead of Manchester United depending on form now on the line.
