Korea Republic vs El Salvador match preview

Will either bounce-back from friendly defeats they suffered on Thursday?

Korea Republic welcomed Peru to Busan four days ago, but suffered a concerning 1-0 defeat; Son Heung-min’s absence was clear for all to see.

Jürgen Klinsmann is still searching for his first win as Korea manager, following a draw with Colombia and a defeat at the hands of Uruguay back in March.

The Taegeuk Warriors will next be in competitive action in November, when World Cup qualifying returns, before heading to Qatar for January’s Asia Cup, amongst the favourites to win that tournament.

So, the home crowd in Daejeon will be desperate to see a win.

As for El Salvador, they took on Japan four days ago, but were crushed 6-0 in Toyota, with Ronald Gómez’s red card, coming less than three minutes in, certainly not helping their cause.

This is far from ideal for Hugo Pérez’s team, with their CONCACAF Gold Cup opener just six days away.

La Selecta will take on a prelim winner (Martinique/Puerto Rico) in Fort Lauderdale, before facing Costa Rica in New Jersey and then Panama in Houston.

Given how El Salvador are playing right now, a group stage exit seems very likely.

Will Korea Republic claim that illusive first win under Klinsmann at Daejeon World Cup Stadium?
