Suriname vs Puerto Rico match preview

Will Suriname remain on course for back-to-back Gold Cup qualifications?

Last summer, A-Selektie made their Gold Cup return, qualifying for the first time since 1985, actually beating Guadeloupe in Houston, but still bowing out in the group phase.

This season, Aron Winter’s team competed in Nations League A for the very first time, but yielded just a solitary point from four matches against heavyweights Mexico and Jamaica.

So, if Suriname are going to qualify for the Gold Cup once again, it’ll have to be through these prelims.

Puerto Rico meantime are massive underdogs in this semi-final tie, seeking to qualify for their debut major tournament.

El Huracán Azul won promotion from the Nations League’s bottom-tier earlier this year, winning all four matches against minnows Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands.
