Borussia Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin says “anything can happen” in the January transfer window but warned the club would “not get carried away” after reports linking them with a loan move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has spoken of his desire to leave Old Trafford for a new challenge after a miserable 18 months in which he has struggled to reach top form while also hitting the headlines for various off-field incidents.
It has been reported the player’s entourage have embarked on a European tour that includes stop-offs at AC Milan and Dortmund to discuss a potential move for Rashford.

Sahin cautious over activity
Sahin, whose side are sixth in the Bundesliga ahead of their return to action following the winter break this Friday against defending champions Bayer Leverkusen, says any incoming activity must be right for the club.
Asked about the window, he said: “Anything can happen. It’s not as easy in winter as it is in summer. We’d be prepared to do something, but we’ll only do it if it makes us better. We’re not going to get carried away.”

Rashford may be too expensive
A deal for Rashford would not be cheap with United reportedly hoping a loan move would see them relinquish responsibility for the bulk of the forward’s £325,000 weekly wage.
That may prove a major blocker for Dortmund whose model is to sign younger players with potential and make them into the polished article.
Dortmund ended the first half of the season out of form with just one win in five games in all competitions.
But Sahin believes the visit of Xabi Alonso’s men will bring out the best in his players.
“A win would be extremely important for the table,” he added. “We’re playing against a top opponent. We’ve always performed well against these teams so far. We want to get into a flow for the new year with a good game.”
The hosts will be without Waldemar Anton and Almugera Kabar through illness, Niklas Sule due to injury and Pascal Gross because of suspension.
