Morgan Rogers scored twice inside the opening five minutes to stun Celtic and pile the pressure on the teams above Aston Villa in the Champions League table.

Villa started the night in ninth place and knowing they had to win to stand any realistic chance of finishing in the top eight and securing automatic qualification to the round of 16.

The pressure was on Unai Emery and his side but they responded in emphatic fashion with England international Rogers at the centre of the action.

Just under three minutes had elapsed when Youri Tielemans slipped in Jacob Ramsey down the left and his cross was inch-perfect for Rogers to fire past Kasper Schmeichel.

And it was 2-0 from Villa’s next attack.

Ollie Watkins, the subject of a reported bid from Arsenal earlier today, picked out Rogers and his 20-yard shot flew past the outstretched arm of Schmeichel and into the top right-hand corner.
