Four days after another memorable North London derby win against Tottenham, Arsenal return to Champions League action.

Liverpool and Aston Villa both got off to winning starts in the competition, while Manchester City were held by Inter Milan on Wednesday.

And while the Gunners may be used to winning in 2024, Europe as always provides a completely different challenge.

Atalanta won the Europa League last season and will pose a threat to any team on the continent on their day.

The likes of Ademola Lookman and Ederson are two particularly dangerous names to look out for, while Arsenal will be relying on the return of Declan Rice, who missed out through suspension at the weekend.

Read on to discover the full line-ups ahead of the clash in Italy.

Atalanta team news

Atalanta are missing some key players for this match, including Ben Godfrey, Giorgio Scalvini and Gianluca Scamacca, somewhat limiting Gian Piero Gasperini’s options.

Marco Carnesecchi gets the nod in goal and will be useful as a sweeper-keeper for Atalanta.

A back three of former Gunner Sead Kolasinac, Isak Hien and Berat Djimsiti are supported by wing-backs Matteo Ruggeri and Davide Zappacosta.

Highly-rated midfielder Ederson lines up alongside Martin de Roon with Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere sitting in front.

Mateo Retegui leads the line for the hosts in Scamacca’s absence.

Arsenal team news

Arsenal have a tried and tested formula under Mikel Arteta but must once again deal without Martin Odegaard, who is expected to be out for some time.

David Raya starts in goal again, with a familiar back four of Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel and Jurrien Timber.

Rice returns to the midfield alongside Thomas Partey and Kai Havertz occupies a free role similar to how he operated against Spurs on Sunday.

Bukayo Saka will line-up on the right, with Gabriel Martinelli on the left.

Gabriel Jesus will captain and lead the line for the Gunners.
