Club Brugge stun Atalanta

Club Brugge reached the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time after a stunning 3-1 win in the second leg secured a 5-2 aggregate victory.

Leading 2-1 after a late turnaround in the first leg, the Belgian side stunned the Serie A side with three goals in the first half, with Chemsdine Talbi scoring twice before Ferran Jutgla made it three just before half-time.

Ademola Lookman netted early in the second half as the Italian side looked to mount a comeback but they struggled to build on it, with Rafael Toloi’s red card three minutes from time making their task even harder.

Brugge will face either Aston Villa or Lille in the last 16.

Benfica progress after Monaco thriller

Benfica and Monaco played out a thrilling 3-3 draw as the Portuguese side progressed to the last 16 with a 4-3 aggregate victory.

Benfica opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Muhammed Kerem Aktürkoğlu before Takumi Minamino levelled the game nine minutes later.

Eliesse Ben Seghir then scored a huge goal for Monaco to level the tie but Vangelis Pavlidis saw Benfica edge back in front from the spot with less than 15 minutes to play.

In a sensational clash, George Illenikhena then put the away side ahead on the night again but their lead lasted just a few minutes as Orkun Kokcu found the winner.

Feyenoord triumph at San Siro

Feyenoord stunned AC Milan at the San Siro in the Champions League knockout play-offs with Julian Carranza’s second-half header securing a 2-1 aggregate victory.

The Dutch side went to Italy with a one-goal advantage but their advantage was extinguished just a minute in when Santiago Gimenez levelled the tie against his former side.

Milan looked set to take charge but the game turned in the visitors’ favour when full-back Theo Fernandez was sent off for a second yellow card.

Feyenoord substitute Julian Carranza then headed in the decisive 73rd-minute goal before the injury-hit Eredivisie side to seal a 2-1 aggregate success.

They will face either Inter Milan or Arsenal next week.
