Barcelona Champions League

Matchday three of the Champions League did not disappoint as Europe’s best went head-to-head.

Following Aston Villa and Arsenal’s wins on Tuesday, both Manchester City and Liverpool looked to continue their run in the competition.

The Premier League champions cruised past Sparta Prague at the Etihad, winning 5-0 with Erling Haaland grabbing a brace.

Meanwhile, the Reds beat RB Leipzig 1-0 away from home, Darwin Nunez grabbing the only goal of the game.

Read on to discover how the other matches in the Champions League unfolded on Wednesday.

Brest 1-1 Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen were held on the road to French side Brest, despite taking an early lead.

The German champions went ahead through the ever-impressive Florian Wirtz, before the hosts equalised through Pierre Lees-Melou.

Both sides sought a winner but in the end had to settle for a point in a competitive affair.

Atletico Madrid 1-3 Lille

Lille stunned Atletico Madrid on their own turf, despite going a goal down.

The French side were pegged back by Julian Alvarez just eight minutes into the game.

But goals from Edon Zhegrova and a Jonathan David brace meant they walked away with all three points.

Barcelona 4-1 Bayern Munich

It was a bad day at the office for Bayern Munich, who fell 4-1 to Barcelona.

Raphinha scored a hat-trick, including the opener in the first minute, as well as two more either side of half-time.

Harry Kane did get on the scoresheet, but it was not enough to prevent Robert Lewandowski – who netted Barca’s second – from having the last laugh against his old team.

Benfica 1-3 Feyenoord

Dutch side Feyenoord picked up three big points against Benfica on the road.

First-half goals from Ayase Ueda and Antoni Milambo put the Eredivisie outfit in control for much of the game before Kerem Akturkoglu got Benfica back in it.

But Milambo wrapped things up in added time to make it 3-1.

RB Salzburg 0-2 Dinamo Zagreb

Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb also won away from home against Austrian outfit RB Salzburg.

Sandro Kulenovic netted in the 49th minute before Alexander Schlager was sent off for the home side 15 minutes later.

Bruno Petkovic put the icing on the cake for Zagreb, marking their first win of the campaign.

Young Boys 0-1 Inter Milan

Inter Milan left it late but got the win in the end against Young Boys.

It took a Marcus Thuram winner in the 93rd minute to wrap up the points for the Italian champions.

Young Boys gave them a good run for their money and will feel hugely disappointed not to walk away with anything.
