Champions League round-up: Bayern grab win but PSG suffer late defeat

There was plenty going on in Europe's top competition on Wednesday night.

Bayern Munich in the Champions League

Matchday four of the Champions League concluded on Wednesday and there were plenty of goals around the grounds.

Earlier in the day, Aston Villa suffered their first defeat back amongst Europe’s elite at the hands of Club Brugge.

Meanwhile, Arsenal could not overcome Inter Milan at San Siro, losing 1-0 to the Italian champions.

Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 Young Boys

Ukrainian side Shakhtar picked up their first win of the Champions League campaign against Young Boys.

They had initially fallen behind 27 minutes in after Kastriot Imeri netted from the edge of the box.

But two goals in the space of 10 minutes from Oleksandr Zubkov and Georgiy Sudakov ensured the home side took all three points.

Feyenoord 1-3 Salzburg

RB Salzburg got a huge win on the road to Dutch side Feyenoord.

Arne Slot’s former team could only manage one goal on the night and that did not come until the 81st minute.

Meanwhile, the Austrian side grabs goals courtesy of Karim Konate and Daouda Guindo.

Red Star Belgrade 2-5 Barcelona

Barcelona continued their fine form under Hansi Flick with a 5-2 win in Belgrade.

Inigo Martinez opened the scoring before the hosts hit back a few minutes later, but Robert Lewandowski’s brace put the visitors in the driving seat.

Further goals from Raphinha and Fermin Lopez wrapped up the points for Barcelona.

PSG 1-2 Atletico Madrid

A late goal separated Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid in the French capital.

The hosts took the lead through Warren Zaire-Emery after just fourteen minutes.

But Nahuel Molina equalised just four minutes later before Angel Correa grabbed a 93rd-minute winner.

Sparta Prague 1-2 Brest

French side Brest picked up three valuable points in Prague.

Edimilson Fernandes got the first of the night with a fine finish from just inside the box.

And a Kaan Kairinen own goal gave the visitors a two-goal advantage which they saw through until the full-time whistle, despite Sparta’s late rally.

Stuttgart 0-2 Atalanta

Atalanta secured a crucial away win against Stuttgart.

Ademola Lookman netted early in the second half, but the game remained on a knife-edge until late on.

Nicolo Zaniola scored in the 88th minute to wrap up the points.

Bayern Munich 1-0 Benfica

Bayern Munich bounced back from their defeat to Barcelona by beating Benfica 1-0.

It was a cagey affair at the Allianz Arena, but one the hosts came through.

Jamal Musiala was the man to get the goal 67 minutes in.
