Bayern Munich have revealed that striker Harry Kane has a calf injury which led to his withdrawal at half-time agianst Celtic.

The England captain was a surprise starter for their Champions League knockout round play-off second leg aggregate win on Tuesday after a calf issue prior to the game.

Kane was then withdrawn at half-time of the 1-1 draw against the Hoops, which saw Alphonso Davies score in the fourth minute of stoppage time to dramatically send the Bavarians through.

The prognosis of the injury has now been confirmed by the club, and thankfully it’s good new for Bayern, indeed England, fans.

Kane is set to miss the next few days of training for Bayern ahead of their Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

There is no sugestion at this stage that the 31-year-old will be sidelined for the game.

A statement from the club said: “Harry Kane has to cut back over the coming days. The FC Bayern striker already had a knock to his calf before the Champions League match against Celtic on Tuesday night, which has led to hematoma.

“He had to come off at half-time of the 1-1 draw with the Scottish champions.”

That will come as good news for England fans ahead of their next international break in March, will be the first under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Three Lions skipper is set to remain a regular for his country under the German, who was in charge of Bayern when they signed Kane from Tottenham.

Kane has scored 29 goals in 31 appearances for the German giants during his second season with the club following his move from Tottenham in 2023.

They currently sit eight points clear the top of the Bundesliga.
