Mohamed Salah cut a cheerful figure at Liverpool’s training ground this morning, less than 48 hours after his controversial interview at Southampton.
Salah scored twice in the 3-2 win at St Mary’s at the weekend but then sought out journalists afterwards to express his frustration at the lack of progress over a new deal at Anfield.
The Egypt star is out of contract at the end of the season but says he has not been offered fresh terms and is currently “more out than in” for 2025-26.
Salah returned to training this morning ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League game against Real Madrid and was captured by the club’s photographer wearing his trademark beaming smile.

He later trained with the rest of his team-mates.
Salah’s situation has caused plenty of debate over the past few weeks which has intensified in the last couple of days.

Selfish Salah – Carragher
Former Reds defender Jamie Carragher described him as “selfish” for choosing to voice his displeasure in a week that sees Liverpool face Madrid and then defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, he said: ”I must say I am very disappointed with Mo Salah.
“Liverpool have Real Madrid midweek and Man City at the weekend. That’s the story right now.
“If he keeps putting comments out, his agent puts out cryptic messages, that is selfish. That is thinking about themselves and not the football club.”

‘The club wouldn’t fall apart if they left’
Salah is not the only player yet to be signed up for next season with captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deals also up in seven months’ time.
Carragher added: “The most important thing for Liverpool Football Club this season isn’t the future of Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“The most important thing is Liverpool winning the Premier League.
“I hope they don’t feel like this club would fall apart if they left. Steven Gerrard left the club and the next manager won the Premier League. Graeme Souness left and Liverpool won the double.
“Salah, would we miss him? Of course we would. But Liverpool will move on.”
