Real Madrid will be at full strength for their upcoming Champions League quarter-final clash against Arsenal after the four players being investigated by UEFA were handed tame punishments.

Antonio Rudiger and Kylian Mbappe have both received suspended one-match bans in addition to monetary penalties, while Dani Ceballos has been fined. These sanctions stem from what UEFA described as violations of “the basic rules of decent conduct.”

The controversy began after Real Madrid’s penalty shootout win over Atletico Madrid in the last-16.

Following the winning strike, Rudiger was accused of making a throat-slitting gesture toward opposing fans.

Kylian Mbappe and Dani Ceballos were also part of the inquiry, along with Vinicius Junior- although no action was taken against the Brazilian.

With just days left until their first-leg fixture against Arsenal, UEFA has delivered its verdict. Rudiger has been hit with a €40,000 (£34,000) fine, while Mbappe faces a €30,000 (£25,000) penalty.

Both players received suspended bans, meaning they remain eligible to play unless further infractions occur.

Ceballos, who previously spent time on loan at Arsenal from 2019 to 2021, received a €20,000 (£17,000) fine.

Meanwhile, UEFA confirmed that “no disciplinary proceedings were opened against Vinicius.”

The punishments allow Real Madrid to avoid any player absences for the crucial first leg at the Emirates Stadium, much to the relief of manager Carlo Ancelotti as the Spanish side chase yet another European title.
