Manchester City will look to register their first win in the Champions League this season when they take on Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia.

Having been held to a goalless draw by Inter a fortnight ago, Pep Guardiola will expect better from his side tonight against a Slovan team that were thrashed 5-1 by Celtic in their opener.

Former Tottenham centre-half Kevin Wimmer starts for the home side. Their captain is ex-City midfielder Vladimir Weiss, who said yesterday: “I am always going to watch City, not just because they’re my first club but because they play the best football in the world for me.

Guardiola has made six changes to the side that drew at Newcastle at the weekend.

Stefan Ortega, John Stones, Matheus Nunes, Savinho, Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku all come into the side in place of Ederson, Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Mateo Kovacic, Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva.

Erling Haaland, who has 10 goals already this season, keeps his place in attack.
