The home fans created an intimidating atmosphere prior to kick off, seemingly willing to put their unhappiness with boss Ange Postecoglou and chairman Daniel Levy to one side.
But their optimism did not last long as Ekitike struck in the third minute.

Eintracht, who came into this game having lost four of their last six in the Bundesliga, dispossessed James Maddison and Ekitike drove in from the left and curled a wonderful shot past Guglielmo Vicario for his fourth goal in the competition this season.
Postecoglou has often talked about how he usually wins a trophy in his second season at clubs but Spurs will have to do it the hard way if they are to take a lead back to Germany for next week’s second leg.
