A potential postponement would undoubtedly cause more frustration with away supporters likely to have already started their journey to Merseyside.
A Met Office yellow warning of snow and ice was in place across Merseyside on Thursday morning, with temperatures expected to stay above freezinng until midnight.
There were similar safety concerns before Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday but the game went ahead as planned.
However, the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool was postponed last month due to the effects of Storm Darragh.
