Erling Haaland was on target as Norway beat Israel 4-2 to top their World Cup qualifying group.

The Norwegians have won both their qualifying games so far, scoring nine goals across the double-header after beating Moldova 5-0 last week.

Manchester City striker Haaland scored his country’s fourth of the evening at the Nagyerdei Stadion, with Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard completing a hat-trick of assists.

David Moller Wolfe, Alexander Sorloth and Kristoffer Ajer were also on target for the visitors, with Mohammed Abu Fani and Doer Turgeman scoring for Israel.

Wales rescue point in North Macedonia

David Brooks scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw for Wales against North Macedonia which continued their unbeaten start to World Cup qualifying.

The Dragons, who sit top of Group J with four points after beating Kazakhstan last week, looked to be heading for their first defeat under Craig Bellamy after Bojan Miovski scored in the first minute of added time.

But Bournemouth forward Brooks latched onto a Kieffer Moore knockdown to knock the ball past the goalkeeper in a dramatic conclusion.

Manager Craig Bellamy said: “A rollercoaster of emotions. A game we were more in control of than I thought we would be. I really liked us, I thought we were really good.

“I thought North Macedonia would be more on the front foot, but they were five at the back. I will have to go through the game again. My main reaction? Probably shock, still.

“But we definitely didn’t deserve to lose the game. The fans feel a connection to these players. This result tonight in the long run will give us so much. We didn’t accept that losing was meant to be.

“I’d have liked six points. This game didn’t work out as hard as I expected it to be.

“But if you’d have offered me four points earlier in the week, I don’t know. I have a feeling with this group. There could be something more coming from them and I’m quite excited about that.”
