Carlo Ancelotti has decided to leave Real Madrid at the conclusion of the current season, according to Spanish reports.
This is despite Ancelotti having a contract with the club until mid-2026.
Ancelotti’s departure would mark the end of his second successful stint at the club.
He led Real Madrid to a historic treble last season, securing the Champions League, La Liga, and Copa del Rey titles.
But after decades in management, the Italian is looking likely to take a step back from his duties.
“The most beautiful place in the world is, on a professional level, where I am – on the bench of Real Madrid,” Ancelotti said at a recent press conference.

“It’s the place every coach wants to be one day. My position is the best in the world.
“There is criticism and there is criticism, the whistles are criticisms that hurt, it is the fans who are not happy, and that motivates us. It is a wake-up call. Celta was a useful wake-up call for the team, we have brought out a good version of ourselves.”
Ancelotti was whistled following the 5-2 Spanish Supercopa defeat to Barcelona, but has since delivered back-to-back wins in the Copa del Rey and LaLiga, putting Los Blancos on top of the table.
Former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, who recently guided Bayer Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title, is reportedly the leading candidate to succeed Ancelotti.
Should he decide to retire, Ancelotti will go down as one of the most successful coaches in history.
