Barcelona have reportedly failed in their latest attempt to re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

Leading Catalonian newspaper El Mundo Deportivo claim the club’s bid to claim an injunction that would enable them to register the two players failed this morning at the Commercial Court 10 in Barcelona.

The financially-troubled European giants will launch another legal challenge against La Liga – Barca claim the organisation is not competent – on Monday but defeat there could see the two players made available on free transfers in January.

That will alert a host of top clubs with attacking midfielder Olmo, a £50million summer signing from RB Leipzig, likely to attract huge interest.

Olmo’s agent in Manchester

The Spain international was a key figure in the country’s European Championship win over the summer and his agent Andy Bara was believed to be in Manchester for City’s Boxing Day draw with Everton.

Bara told the Mail he was there on holiday but it ties in with the theory that Olmo would be a natural fit for ailing champions City, especially with Pep Guardiola admitting he is looking for reinforcements in January due to a lengthy injury list.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also believed to hold an interest in Olmo.

Barca’s financial woes continue

Today’s decision is another blow to Barcelona as they continue to fall foul of La Liga’s financial rules.

El Mundo report the club have already explored other routes to raise revenue that would boost their hopes of being able to re-register Olmo and Victor, including selling VIP seats in the revamped Camp Nou.
