Aymeric Laporte would consider a January move to Real Madrid as the European champions attempt to find a solution to their defensive woes.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side started the season short of cover after their failed pursuit of Leny Yoro, who ended up at Manchester United, and the departure of captain Nacho.
And Eder Militao’s season-ending ACL injury, suffered last weekend against Osasuna, means they are down to just one senior centre-half in Antonio Rudiger.
Real Madrid Castilla defender Raul Asencio stepped in for Militao against Osasuna but he is not thought to be a suitable option for a team looking to defend the Champions League and La Liga crowns they won last season.
Laporte has emerged as a potential target and the former Manchester City defender, who is currently playing in Saudi Arabia for Al Nassr, would jump at the chance of a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
He told El Larguero: “A call from Madrid? Sounds good.
“I would listen to the call. Obviously, you don’t look down on teams like Real Madrid.”
Laporte signed a three-year deal when he joined Al Nassr in 2023 but has already voiced his displeasure with life in the Middle East.
Ancelotti is a known fan of the 30-year-old and it would not be a surprise if links continued between now and the reopening of the transfer window.
