Real Madrid’s La Liga clash at Valencia, that was scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to the extreme floods that have hit the region.
Valencia was hit by flash floods on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing at least 95 people, and more rain is expected today.
A yellow warning is in place for Valencia itself while an ‘extreme risk’ red warning is in place for Castellon to the north.
Valencia, who sit bottom of the table, requested the game against Madrid be called off and the authorities have agreed.

A club statement read: “Valencia CF have received confirmation of the postponement of our matchday 12 La Liga game against Real Madrid, initially scheduled for November 2, due to the severity of the DANA natural disaster that has left numerous fatalities and damage in the Valencia region.
“At this difficult time, we wish to convey our deepest condolences and support to the families and friends of the deceased, and all those affected by this catastrophe which has put football into the background.
“Since Tuesday, Valencia CF have been at the disposal of the authorities and municipalities affected to help in any way possible.
“The club appreciate the commendable work of the emergency services, as well as the understanding of LALIGA, the Royal Spanish Football Federation, CP Parla Escuela – Fair Play and Real Madrid, who have shown full sensitivity in postponing our matches in light of the serious consequences of this emergency.”
The top-flight game between nearby Villarreal and Rayo Vallecano has also been postponed as have the Segunda Division games between Castellon and Racing Ferrol, Eldense and Huesca and Monday’s clash between Levante and Malaga.
