Life after Kylian Mbappe is going well for PSG, who sit top of Ligue 1 after demolishing Montpellier 6-0 at the Parc des Princes to make it two wins from two.

Luis Enrique fielded another youthful side who outclassed their visitors from the moment 21-year-old France winger Barcola put them ahead after just four minutes.

Marco Asensio doubled the lead with a beauty after 24 minutes before a burst of three goals in seven minutes before the hour from Barcola again, Achraf Hakimi and Warren Zaire-Emery opened the floodgates and Kang-In Lee came off the bench to fire a sixth late-on.

PSG had beaten Le Havre 4-1 in their opening game to make it 10 goals across their opening two fixtures, with four of those assisted by 19-year-old Portuguese recruit Joao Neves from Benfica, who was handed his first start against Montpellier.

Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille, 5-1 winners at Brest last weekend, will seek to keep pace at the top of Ligue 1 as they host Reims on Sunday.
