Alex Iwobi has described Fulham as “one big brotherhood” and says his team-mates fear no one in the Premier League.

The Nigerian midfielder, who is enjoying an impressive campaign under Marco Silva, believes the positive atmosphere both on and off the pitch has been instrumental in the players’ performance.

At 28, Iwobi has already equalled his best-ever Premier League goal tally of five, matching last season’s total with half the season still to play.

Additionally, the ever-present midfielder has contributed three assists and been a strong influence on Fulham’s run.

“We’re really fighting for each other,” Iwobi said to the BBC.

“You can see it on the pitch, but off the pitch what the cameras don’t catch is that we’re really one big brotherhood.

“It’s a nice environment, the chemistry is really good, and I feel like that’s helping us get the results we need.”

Fulham currently sit eighth in the Premier League, only three points adrift of fifth-placed Newcastle United, and are on an impressive seven-game unbeaten streak.

Iwobi credits manager Silva for fostering the “sense of togetherness” that is driving the squad forward.

“I feel like [I am] just expressing myself a bit more,” Iwobi added.

“The manager gives me that license and freedom to try and get into more goalscoring opportunities. Even if I make a mistake he says: ‘Alex, go again.’

“Having that confidence from him, [and] my team-mates backing me, it makes you feel almost unstoppable. You are willing to try and do anything on the pitch.”

Fulham have not finished higher than 10th in the Premier League since the 2011-12 season.

However, with the squad performing at such a high level, Iwobi is optimistic about their chances of breaking into the European places.

“We have the players, and I haven’t played in Europe in a long time, so it’s a dream I want to achieve again,” he said.

“We’re not scared of no-one. We’re confident that we can compete against anyone and take three points. The sky’s the limit.”
