Todd Boehly has suggested that Chelsea’s ownership structure could shift if there is no consensus on the future of Stamford Bridge.

The club’s leadership is currently evaluating whether to redevelop their historic home or move to a new location, with Earl’s Court being considered as a potential alternative.

The decision is complicated by the limited space available for large-scale construction in London.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Boehly hinted that discussions around the stadium project could determine the long-term dynamics of Chelsea’s ownership.

“We have to think long term about what we’re trying to accomplish,” Boehly said.

The redevelopment or relocation of Stamford Bridge is a significant project, with Clearlake Capital, Chelsea’s majority owners, reportedly committed to making it happen.

However, if an agreement cannot be reached, it could lead to a divergence between the club’s co-owners.

“We have a big stadium development opportunity that we have to flesh out. That’s going to be where we’re either aligned or we ultimately decide to go different ways,” Boehly added.

Tensions among the ownership group have been reported since the start of the season, with both parties previously expressing interest in potentially buying each other out.

When asked about his position on selling his stake in the club, Boehly responded: “I think the status quo is something that’s just fine. I think we’ve gotten what we’ve learned from each other. And, you know, I think we’re really going to be able to work it out any which way.”

Despite past disagreements, Boehly emphasised that Chelsea’s leadership remains unified in their vision for the club, citing their current position in the Premier League standings as evidence of their progress.

“If you look at the evolution of the team, we’ve been aligned on what we’re trying to do and what we’re trying to build,” he said. “It’s a team that’s young, it’s a team that’s got long contracts, and all these things were new.”
