Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola says his players must be at their best if they are to beat Tottenham on Thursday night.

The Cherries can go ahead of Spurs in the table with a win and catapult themselves into the top half of the table.

Iraola is hopeful his players will be eager to play their football against one of the Premier League’s top six and senses an opportunity on the South Coast.

Speaking in his press conference, he said: “Their stats are amazing, and they are top scorers in the competition.

“They have so many threats, especially offensively and they are really good in their position. It’s going to be very difficult.

“The past season we played very well. Even playing well, they beat us 3-1, but I think we played well.

“These games you have to be very good and better than them in the boxes because they are high quality. They are very good team, that I enjoy watching.

“They are offensive the way they play, and they have very good players. We need to be at our very best and we have to be better inside the boxes.”

Bournemouth like to welcome teams onto them with a high press and they are excellent at playing around it.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham are one of the most aggressive pressing teams in the league but it also leaves them open at the back.

And with several key injuries in North London, it may play into the hands of the Cherries.

Iraola added: “They will play in a very short space of time and important game. I hope they all come to play.

“We were pleased because the performance [against Wolves] was really good.

“I am happy because Justin Kluivertscored a hat-trick, happy because a lot of players had good performances.

“But it was a game we needed to win.”
