Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze

Crystal Palace battled back to claim a point against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues unveiled Jadon Sancho in front of a home crowd but were not able to call upon the England international in West London as they gave away a 1-0 lead.

Chelsea took the lead through a very well-worked goal 25 minutes in that was finished off nicely by Nicolas Jackson.

A run by Noni Madueke, which was started in his own half, saw Enzo Maresca’s men fill the Palace box, with the ball eventually landing to Cole Palmer.

And the young star cooly passed the ball across the box to Jackson, who bundled it into the net.

The stats will tell you that it was Chelsea’s game to lose from there.

63% possession, 13 shots and over 200 more passes than their opponents could not stop the brilliance of Eberechi Eze though.

The man who was linked with Tottenham and Manchester City this summer found the ball on the edge of the box and wrapped his foot around it perfectly.

He left goalkeeper Robert Sanchez scrambling and then picking the ball out of the net as the 26-year-old levelled things up.

Naturally, the Blues got themselves back on the front foot, fashioning half chances but struggling to break down a resilient defence.

Dean Henderson will be getting a few pats on the back for a number of crucial saves at Stamford Bridge, including one from Jackson in stoppage time.

In the end it was enough for Palace to earn a point – their first of the season – and lift them out of the relegation zone.

Chelsea will be frustrated that they could not get over the line, but there were still plenty of positives for Maresca to take.
