Erling Haaland required 18 minutes to open his 2024-25 Premier League account by putting Manchester City ahead with a clever finish at Chelsea.
The top scorer in the top flight for the past two seasons latched onto Bernardo Silva’s low pass, bided his time and lifted a deft strike over advanced goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
Norway international Haaland has now scored in the first Premier League game in each of his three campaigns with the Cityzens.
A Video Assistant Referee (VAR) check for offside took place before Haaland’s goal was confirmed, putting a predictable smile upon the 24-year-old’s face.
