Chris Wood has been named Premier League Player of the Month for October after his excellent form pushed Nottingham Forest up the table.
Wood, 32, scored four times in three games during the month and is the first Forest player to ever win the award – as well as the first Kiwi.
“It’s a credit to all of us and how the team’s working,” Wood said. “They supply me with all the chances so it’s nice that I’ve been able to tuck them away.”
Wood now has 77 Premier League goals in his career – just behind Tony Cottee, Theo Walcott and Gary Speed on the all-time list.
His goals also meant a win in the Manager of the Month category for his boss, Nuno Espirito Santo.
It’s the fifth time the former Tottenham and Wolves manager has won the award, with the Portuguese guiding Forest to third place.
Forest host Newcastle on Sunday.
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson won goal of the month for his effort against Newcastle, started by Cole Palmer’s fantastic through ball to Pedro Neto, who squared for Jackson to slot in.
