Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has been formally charged by the Football Association following his red card during the FA Cup loss to Bournemouth.
The FA alleges that Cunha “acted in an improper manner” after being dismissed in the final moments of extra time for an altercation with Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.
The 25-year-old lost his temper in the dying seconds of the match, striking out at Kerkez three times – throwing punches, kicking, and even attempting a headbutt once the Hungarian defender got back on his feet.
Referee Sam Barrott eventually brandished a red card, but Cunha, visibly enraged, had to be escorted down the tunnel by staff.
Cunha, who had earlier scored Wolves’ equaliser at the Vitality Stadium, has until Monday to respond to the charge.
The dramatic FA Cup clash ended 1-1 after extra time, with Bournemouth securing a 5-4 victory in the penalty shootout to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Already Wolves’ top scorer this season with 15 goals across all competitions – including five in his last six games – Cunha’s dismissal now adds to his team’s struggles.
The straight red card for violent conduct automatically rules him out of Wolves’ upcoming matches against Everton, Southampton, and West Ham.
However, an additional suspension could see him sidelined for the crucial relegation battle against Ipswich on April 5.
Currently sitting 17th in the league, Wolves are just five points above Ipswich, who occupy the final relegation spot.
This is not the first time Cunha has faced disciplinary action this season. In January, he served a two-game suspension after an altercation with a member of Ipswich’s security staff, during which he grabbed the official’s glasses following Wolves’ 2-1 home defeat in December.
