Dele Alli says he is “turning a new page” after officially comfirming his departure from Everton.
The English midfielder has not played for the Toffees since August 2022, with a loan spell with Turkish outfit Besiktas last term curtailed by a muscle tear which ended his campaign prematurely.
Dele, who has been capped 37 times by England, is widely reported to be on the verge of joining Serie A side Como, who are managed by Cesc Fabregas.
In a statement on Instagram, the former Tottenham star said: “As widely published, 2025 may set me on a new path with some exciting opportunities.
“Before any of that happens it’s very important for me to make clear how grateful I am of all the fans, staff and players at Everton for the support they have given me.
“It has been an incredibly tough journey trying to put the pieces together to regain match fitness and I cannot thank the Everton staff enough for the hard work they have put into the process.
“Unfortunately things haven’t worked out as we all would have hoped and I think it is the right time for me to turn a new page.
“I want to wish everyone at this amazing club the very best of luck and hopefully we will see each other again soon.”
The 28-year-old made just 13 appearances for Everton after signing in January 2022 after struggling reignite his career since leaving Tottenham.
In July 2023, Alli said he had been recieving treament for an addiction to sleeping pills, while revealing he had been abused during his childhood.
