Everton have reached an agreement with the Premier League regarding an outstanding issue related to a breach of the competition’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The club was initially deducted two points in April for a second breach of the PSR.

However, a dispute arose regarding a specific aspect of the charge related to interest costs associated with the construction of their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Following further discussions and the submission of additional information by the club, the Premier League has decided not to pursue this part of the complaint.

This agreement brings to an end all proceedings between Everton and the Premier League regarding the PSR breaches for the financial years ending 30 June 2022 and 30 June 2023.

“After considering the further information and documents provided by the club in detail, the Premier League Board has concluded that it would not be appropriate or proportionate to continue to pursue the second part of their complaint,” read a joint statement.

Everton manager David Moyes was quizzed on the agreement and admitted he felt relieved after hearing the news.

“I’m probably not the person you should be speaking to about this as I don’t quite have the full information,” Moyes said.

“But I think things are looking much better than they were, obviously new ownership has come in which will help greatly, but I hope it doesn’t affect us too much in this transfer window. I am sure as we go on it will be much easier to do business in the future.”

The PSR regulations limit clubs to losses of up to £105 million over a three-year period. Everton were previously found to have exceeded this limit by £16.6 million for the three-year period to 2022-23.
