Fabian Hurzeler will continue to “trust the process” as he attempts to end Brighton’s dismal run of form against Arsenal on Saturday.
The Seagulls have slipped to 10th in the Premier League table after a seven-game winless stretch with their last victory coming at Bournemouth in November.
Hurzeler made a bright start after succeeding Roberto Di Zerbi in the Brighton hotseat but has found life tougher recently. He remains confident, however, that better times are ahead.
He said: “I think you can’t compare the situations in football because they’re so different, things happen because of different reasons but in the end you have the experience and this gives you help and orientation on how to behave in these situations, how to come back to the results.
“We just try to continue our work because we think we are on the right way, we are able to beat everyone, we showed it in the last games that despite the bad results, we had some really good performances, that’s what I always say – trust the process. We are on the right way.”
“If we don’t play with intensity and courage, we have no chance”

Tricky test against in-form Arsenal
A home game with an Arsenal side unbeaten since November 6 is probably not the fixture Hurzeler would have chosen to start the new year and the Texas-born boss admits his side will have to be at their best to trouble the Gunners.
“[We need] to push to our limits in every phase of the game, continue to play with courage, continue to play with intensity,” he added.
“It’s what we showed in the last few games and, of course the results weren’t as good, but we showed good performances and showed we are able to beat every team in this league.
“It’s very important we play with our identity. If we don’t play with intensity we have no chance. If we don’t play with courage we have no chance.
“These two things are the main thing and another part of the game is set-pieces. When you see how much danger they can create from set-pieces then we also have to take care of that.”
Welbeck still a concern for Hurzeler
Brighton will have Adam Webster available once again while young midfielder Jack Hinshelwood may also come back into contention.
Hurzeler was less certain about Danny Welbeck’s return date, however.
“I can’t say a clear schedule when he will be back – it can be next week, it can be quick, but it can also take two, three, four more weeks – so we really have to go day-by-day,” he said.
“He is without any pain so that’s a really good thing and he’s back on the pitch, but then we have to really go day-by-day and hopefully he will be back soon.”
