Leicester have forgotten how to score.

Monday’s dismal 3-0 defeat at home to Newcastle was the latest in a long line of blanks under Ruud van Nistelrooy – who was prolific in front of goal as a player.

The Foxes have now failed to score in eight successive Premier League games and they could become the first team to ever lose nine consecutive top-flight games without troubling the scorers at Brighton on Saturday.

They are also the first side in the top four tiers of English football to lose eight successive home league games without scoring.

It’s been so long since they scored a goal in the league at home – way back on 8 December – that the world has changed…

Trump wasn’t President

Forget tariffs, falling out with fellow heads of state and laying off workers – back when Leicester last scored at home Donald Trump wasn’t even in charge.

He had won the election in November 2024, beating Kamala Harris, but Joe Biden remained in the White House until 20 January, 2025 – two days after Leicester lost 2-0 at home to Fulham.

Leicester fans will hope this run doesn’t last for four more years…

Lee Carsley was still, technically, England boss

Thomas Tuchel has got off to a winning, if not illuminating start as England manager, beating Latvia and Albania in routine wins last month.

But back when Leicester were last finding the back of the net the former Chelsea manager had yet to take charge.

Unthinkably, Dan Burn had yet to become an international. Which leads us to…

Newcastle had not won a trophy for 56 years

Newcastle fans were celebrating again in Leicester on Monday night and they have barely stopped since Newcastle won the Carabao Cup final last month.

The aforementioned Burn scored a wonderful header as Eddie Howe’s side beat Liverpool 2-1 in a famous win at Wembley.

It is only four years since the Foxes won the FA Cup – and nine since they lifted the Premier League.

But such high points feel a long way off now as Leicester slide towards the Championship again

Luke Littler was a World Championship hopeful

Yes, when Bobby De Cordova-Reid slammed in Leicester’s second against Brighton back in December the teenage darts sensation was just about to start his campaign at Ally Pally.

Littler, 18, stormed to his first title by beating Michael van Gerwen 7-3 and looks set to dominate the sport for years to come.

Perhaps he could help the Foxes out with their finishing…

The Eagles were dreaming of the Super Bowl

Over the Atlantic the Philadelphia Eagles moved to 11-2 as Leicester scored at home with a fourth-quarter rally to beat the Panthers.

Playoff wins against Green Bay, the Rams and Washington paved a way to New Orleans and a Super Bowl meeting against the Chiefs once more.

Unlike in 2023, this time the Eagles made it count as a stunning first half led the way to a 40-22 win for the men form Philly.
