Mohamed Salah said Liverpool “need” to win another Premier League title after going 11 points clear at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Manchester City.

Salah opened the scoring at the Etihad before setting up Dominik Szoboszlai for a second during a controlled away display against the champions.

The Reds look to have won hand on the trophy after taking advantage of Arsenal’s home defeat against West Ham on Saturday and star man Salah says he is desperate to add another title to his solitary one won at Anfield so far.

After being awarded Player of the Match with another influential display, the 32-year-old told Sky Sports: “We need another title. Me and the big guys in the team, we need another title.

“It is incredible. It is a very hard place to come and play here. They are a tough team and they have an incredible manager, I am glad in the end we won the game. It is special. Especially when you are in the title race, it is incredible.

“Hopefully we keep calm because sometimes the pressure gets to us. We try to win each game.”

Slot: Difficult games still to come

Arsenal themselves had the chance to close the gap on Liverpool on Sarturday following the Reds’ 2-2 draw with Aston Villa in midweek, but the Gunners missed their chance after an uninspiring display against the Hammers.

Now 11 points clear with 11 games to go, it looks difficult to see Liverpool missing out on the title from this point but manager Arne Slot insists there could be plenty more twists and turns to come.

Slot said: “Three days ago we had a draw at Villa and people told me we weren’t in a good place and then three days later we win and it changes again. We work every single day to achieve this and it is three months of very hard work to maintain this.

“There is no secret. We are 11 points clear but Arsenal has one game in hand. The best attack we had didn’t end in a goal.

“You always have to adapt to the challenge you have. A week ago we experienced how difficult Wolves at home was. They will always be difficult games, like today.

“It is easier for us to not get excited because we know what we have to put in. This result was more about defence than attack. It is normal for fanbases to be positive and it is important to understand why we are where we are.”
