Nuno Espirito Santo knows Nottingham Forest’s solid start to the season will be put to the test when they visit Liverpool on Saturday.

Forest have taken five points from their first three Premier League games – against Bournemouth, Southampton and Wolves – but a trip to Anfield represents a significant step up in quality.

Arne Slot has made a positive impression after succeeding Jurgen Klopp with Liverpool looking ready to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal for the title this season.

Nuno said: “They are a very good team first of all. Very good players and they have started very well. Some things are different [under Arne Slot than under Jurgen Klopp]. Some things are the same, the players, the core is there. But always a very tough team and we know we are going to face a very good opponent.”

Forest were arguably the better side in the draws with Bournemouth and Wolves but Nuno was not convinced they deserved more than the points they have accumulated.

He added: ”It’s difficult to say. I think we have always competed very well in all the games. We are able to improve as a team and this is always our main goal. Keep improving and keep putting things right, avoid mistakes. But we are happy with the way we have started.”

Duo may be involved

Nuno is set to include new signings James Ward-Prowse and Morato in the squad for the game on Merseyside having been impressed with how they’ve settled at the City Ground.

“I think they have adapted well to the group. The group have received them very well. They are totally integrated and enjoying their football, preparing themselves for the chance when it comes,” he said.

“It is up to us but in terms of adaptation, really well. Easier for James, of course. Morato, like all the players that have joined us, the squad has received them really well.”
