Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy says he is looking at the big picture when it comes to the Foxes’ goals for the remainder of the season.

The East Midlands side remain at risk of relegation from the Premier League this term.

They sit just two points above the drop zone, having recently been beaten by bottom-half rivals Wolves last weekend.

But Van Nistelrooy has overseen some positive results since taking over from Steve Cooper, including a 3-1 win over West Ham, and a 2-2 draw with Brighton.

And the Dutchman remains confident that he can steer them to safety in 2025.

Speaking at his latest press conference, he said: “The squad is good, they’re fine. We know what position we’re in. The results from the four games, there are some positives.

“The last two are losses but we look at the bigger picture and we look ahead. We know it’s going to be a long season where we’re fighting until the end to show we deserve to play in this league.”

Van Nistelrooy may be optimistic, but Leicester face the incredibly tough task of travelling to Anfield on Boxing Day.

Van Nistelrooy added: “It’s clear who the dominant force are in this game.

“I know how Arne wants to make his teams play. He’s got it right straight away. They are the dominant force also in the Champions League.

“The streak is remarkable. We have to be very compact, we have to be ready to know what we’re facing.

“We have to be ready to play too. It will be a great task but it’s a great chance to develop in all areas in the game, and that will help us towards the finish line.”
